Choosing a Host Child
Host Orphan Worldwide’s objective is to place every single child into the right, loving host family. Often, we have many families inquiring about the same children. As a result, we cannot hold children for longer than 24 hours. When you choose a child, Host Orphans Worldwide will hold your child(ren) for up to 24 hours, during which time your initial (non-refundable) donation of $750 must be successfully received via PayPal and indicated in the PayPal notes that it is toward your child’s hosting account. You may also pay by sending a check to the HOW Director (this way is in place to reduce the fees it cost to use PayPal.) At the end of 24 hours, if the $750 is not received, the child will revert to “available” status in the database, or to a “back-up” family if another has expressed interest.
When the $750 is received, your child is considered “hosted”, and paperwork for your child is immediately underway. From this point forward, it is not possible to switch between host children.
What steps do I take to “Apply” to host a child?

There will be a $100 (non-refundable) application fee
Once your application has been submitted, you will need to complete the required paperwork from the Ministry.

Home Safety Check (completed by an authority figure in your area that you are familiar with i.e. Police Officer, Pastor)
Background Check ($14.95)
Signature on the ACT form (agreement with HOW and current families)
Signature and Acknowledgement of HOW Paperwork
Airport Paperwork (this will be completed at the airport on Arrival Day)
*All paperwork is to be submitted in timely manner. Your personal information will be treated in a confidential manner. Once you have signed and submitted your paperwork, this acknowledges that all your information is correct.
What is the policy on “refunds” if I decide I do not want to host with Host Orphans Worldwide?
All hosting donations are non-refundable.
If you change your mind after committing to host a child, any funds applied to your child’s account will be posted as a grant to help place them with a new host family.
How do I get answers to my questions before I choose a child?
As a team, we have coaches that can answer most of your questions and concerns. We do our best to respond quickly and in an effective mannerism. Once hosting season begins to start, families from all over the world will be contacting a HOW volunteer for questions or concerns. Maintaining a professional atmosphere is our goal and expect the same from our families. This time is priceless, and we as your support team, want to ensure the BEST hosting season. We consider what we are doing part of God’s plan; “to serve the least of these.” Therefore, there is not one child or family that is not our priority.
What is the timeline for the remaining donations to be paid?
ALL payments are expected to be paid in FULL, 30 days prior to the arrival day for the children. Your payments or donations are tax deductible. All payments are donations to Host Orphans Worldwide, a 501(c)3 non-profit and are non-refundable. Please inquire with your employer about matching grant opportunities.
PLEASE NOTE: Children who have any balance remaining on their account after the final payment date, CANNOT TRAVEL TO THE USA. Airfares cannot be purchased for children who do not have fully funded accounts.
