Ukraine: Standing With Children Through Crisis

A Beginning. A War. A Commitment That Continues.

Host Orphans Worldwide began its hosting journey in 2019 with children from Ukraine.

For several years, children from Ukrainian orphanages were welcomed into the homes of American families, creating opportunities for cultural exchange, family connection, encouragement, and advocacy.

Then, war changed everything.

When the war began, hosting from Ukraine came to an end. But our commitment to the children and orphanages we had come to know did not.

When Hosting Stopped, Our Mission Continued

We knew that the children we had hosted—and the orphanages we had partnered with—needed support more than ever.

As children were displaced and orphanages relocated, we shifted from hosting to serving.

Host Orphans Worldwide began offering mission trips to displaced Ukrainian orphanages, allowing teams to travel directly to where the children and caregivers were living and provide practical support, encouragement, and resources.

The way we serve changed.

Our heart for the children did not.

Serving Children Where They Are

Caring for vulnerable children does not always mean bringing them into our homes. Sometimes it means going to them.

Through mission trips and continued relationships with our Ukrainian partners, we have been able to support children and caregivers during an incredibly difficult season.

Our teams have the opportunity to build relationships, understand current needs, provide practical assistance, and remind children that they have not been forgotten.

A Commitment That Continues

The children of Ukraine have experienced circumstances no child should have to endure.

Their lives, homes, and communities have been disrupted by war, but their need for safety, connection, encouragement, and hope remains.

We believe that showing up matters.

Sometimes that means opening our homes.

Sometimes it means traveling across the world.

Sometimes it means providing resources to an orphanage or simply reminding a child that someone cares.

Looking Toward the Future

We began our work in Ukraine through hosting, and we are grateful for every child and family who became part of that journey.

Today, our role looks different.

We continue to stand alongside the orphanages and children we have partnered with, responding to needs as they arise and trusting God to guide the next chapter.

We pray for peace in Ukraine and for the children and caregivers who continue to navigate unimaginable circumstances.

Until hosting can safely return, we will continue to find ways to serve.

Because when circumstances change, our commitment to children does not.
